Why Platinum?

If you're not currently producing in platinum - at a time when prices are fantastic and consumers are interested - here are 5 good reasons why you should be.

Reason #1: Cost

It's unusual for platinum to be less expensive than gold. But since gold prices have soared more than 20% since 2019, platinum is less expensive - even though it is 30 times more rare there is much less of it in circulation. But markets are unpredictable and this situation may not last, so now is the perfect time to pad your platinum stock.

Reason #2: Durability & Lifespan

Platinum is the hardest and most durable metal for jewelry. It's durability is one of its strongest assets as a precious metal, and it will hold precious stones securely in place better than any other precious metal. Don't you want your customers passing down your jewelry for generations? Yes?

Reason #3: Composition

Gold is beautiful and well known, and considered the ultimate metal among many consumers. But you know and we know that pure gold can be soft and may not be able to handle the pressure of hanging on to a big stone. This is where platinum steps up to the plate! If a consumer wants pure gold for their ring, it's always a good idea to talk with them about creating the prongs in platinum so they know their precious gem is safe.

Reason #4: Long Term Care

A common misconception is that white gold and platinum will essentially perform the same over time because they look the same at the time of purchase. But unlike gold, to be considered a platinum piece it must contain 95% or more of the metal, making it one of the purest, most durable metals consumers can buy. This makes the long term care of a platinum piece a no brainer as it can just be polished and be as good as new!

Reason #5: Hypoallergenic Choice

Since white gold is typically made from a mix of metals, some of these metals could easily irritate someone's sensitive skin. You don't take that risk with platinum since it's 95% pure. It's actually the only true, naturally hypoallergenic precious jewelry metal you can buy.
