Your Metal Needs, Covered: A Look at Our Extensive Selection

We’re known for our commitment to 100% recycled gold, platinum, and fine silver, but our selection doesn’t stop there. David H. Fell & Co. has been in the refining business for over fifty years, building a reputation for honesty and integrity with the jewelry, pawn, electronics, dental, and mining industries. We offer over thirty alloys tailor-made for a number of applications ranging from heavy industry to dentistry to the most delicate luxury jewelry.
Platinum
In addition to pure platinum, we offer a number of platinum alloys: Iridium Platinum, Ruthenium Platinum, and Palladium Platinum. The purity of platinum, palladium, and silver is expressed like a batting average: if you’re batting 1.000, you’ve hit the ball at 100% of your at-bats. If the purity of your metal is 1.000, you have a 100% pure metal. 100% purity is never found in nature; there will always be at least a fraction of a percent of impurities present. Our pure platinum is rated .999+.
Iridium Platinum: Our general-purpose Iridium Platinum alloys are 10% Iridium Platinum. At 95.2% Platinum and 4.8% alloy metals, our 10% Iridium Platinum not only meets FTC regulations, it exceeds them.
Ruthenium Platinum: Our signature alloy, RuPt, combines the malleability of platinum with the strength of ruthenium. This platinum alloy is the most widely used in the United States and has a Vickers Hardness of 130. Making jewelry with this alloy will provide beautiful, long-lasting results and cost less when compared to Iridium platinum alloys.
Palladium
The striking white appearance of palladium platinum looks great with diamonds, but it often requires a rhodium plating due to its softness and grayish color. Our 500 palladium is a brilliant white that does not require rhodium plating. Our purer palladium alloy, 950 palladium iridium, also offers a shiny white finish with no need for rhodium plating. We also carry pure (.999+) palladium.
Gold
With a wide range of gold alloys ranging from 10k to 22k, as well as 99.99% pure 24k fine gold, we’ve got an alloy for whatever you need, with most varieties available in casting grain, sheet, or wire.
Whereas the purity of the other precious metals is often expressed as a number less than 1, the purity of gold is measured in karats. 24k is pure gold, and our gold alloys range in purity from 10k to 22k. In order to be considered 24k gold, a sample must contain at least 99.5% gold. Our 24k gold is 99.99% pure.
Different mixtures of gold and other metals produce alloys of varying hardness and color. If you need a specific shade of gold to complement a particular gemstone or skin tone, we have you covered.
Yellow: We’ve got a shade of yellow to cover all of your needs. 14k Yellow Sunbrite is our most popular yellow gold for sheet and wire, while 14k Yellow Sunbrite Plus contains deoxidizer and is great for casting. Our 14k Regal, 18k Santa Fe, and 22kt Romance are the three alloys that have additional copper included to provide richer shades of yellow. Our various yellow gold alloys range from light yellow to European yellow, from greenish-yellow to reddish-yellow.
White: All of our white gold alloys have been certified as nickel-safe by the American Assay & Gemological Office. 10k white gold is soft and handles like yellow gold. For a brighter cast, we offer a 10k, 14k, and 18k White Plus that contains deoxidizer. Looking for a soft, nickel-free alloy that looks like platinum and is great for pavé? Look no further than our 14k Palladium White.
Red: “Red gold” encompasses a number of hues from rose or pink at 10k to a richer, deeper hue at 18k to a peachy, coppery look at 22k.
Green: Available in 10k (light green), 14k (medium green), and 18k (true green). Minimum order quantities apply for green gold.
Silver
We carry both sterling silver and fine silver. Our fine silver is as close to pure silver as you’ll find (.999+), and we carry a variety of sterling silver products to fit your needs.
Our .925 sterling silver is a silver-copper alloy. Sterling Silver Plus contains deoxidizer, and Sterling Silver Supercast casts stones in place.
Bi-Metals
Bi-metal sheets in 18k or 22k gold and sterling silver. 18k and 22k gold offer different color palettes for designers to work with. 18k yellow gold subtly complements the sterling silver, while the brighter 22k gold offers a more striking contrast. The 22k sheet is also thicker and more malleable, perfect for twisting and working with hand tools. These sheets are available in sizes from 3”x1” to 3”x12”.
